Launch Your Career in Radio & Media

Sand Mountain Broadcasting is proud to invest in the next generation of broadcasters, journalists, and media professionals. Our internship program is designed to give college students and recent graduates real, hands-on experience inside a fast-paced, professional radio environment.

Interns will have the opportunity to work with our stations:
WQSB 105.1 FM • WKXX 102.9 FM • Power 107.5 FM

What You’ll Gain

Our internship program provides valuable, real-world experience that goes beyond the classroom. Interns will rotate through multiple departments, including:

  • On-Air Operations – Learn board operation, show prep, and voice tracking
  • Production – Record commercials, edit audio, and write copy
  • Promotions & Events – Assist with live remotes and community events
  • Digital Media – Help manage social media and website content

Who Can Apply

We’re looking for motivated individuals who are passionate about media and communications.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college/university
    or have graduated within the past 6 months
  • Be pursuing (or interested in) fields like:
    • Broadcast Journalism
    • Communications
    • Marketing
    • Public Relations
    • Digital Media
  • Have reliable transportation to the station and events

Program Details

  • Duration: 3 months (90 days)
  • Schedule: Flexible based on academic requirements
  • Extensions: May be available based on performance and station needs

Academic Credit & Compensation

  • Academic Credit: We strongly encourage internships for course credit and will work directly with your school to meet requirements
  • Compensation: Most internships are unpaid and focused on education, but any paid opportunities will follow all labor guidelines

Interns represent Sand Mountain Broadcasting both in the studio and out in the community. We expect:

  • Professionalism and reliability
  • Strong communication with supervisors
  • A positive, “listener-first” attitude
  • Respect for confidentiality and station operations
